Viridor Headquarters
The new build construction of headquarters for Viridor based in Taunton, which is one of the UK's leading recycling, resource and waste management companies. The project comprised of office accommodation and communal spaces across 6 floors.

Travelodge, Cornwall
A new 56 bed hotel situated in the mining village of Camborne in Cornwall. The hotel was traditionally built, with the bathroom pods being constructed off site.
Our Role
EDP provided the full MEP design. We also carried out the thermal modelling and production of the energy certification.

Yeovil College
The remodelling and refurbishment of a number of buildings at Yeovil College. The College provides further and higher education to school leavers, adults and apprentices in Yeovil, South Somerset.

SPIRE HOSPITAL – HYTHE
To undertake the boiler and hot water generation plant and controls system replacement, to improve system resilience within the live private hospital in Hythe, Kent; and installation of a new air handling unit (AHU) plant, to improve the clinical functions.
Our Role
Working with CFES Ltd, the main contractor, EDP Environmental provided MEP Design Services for the system upgrade and replacement. Very limited access influenced the design significantly.
The boilers selected were of the prefabricated frame mounted type, with high efficiency condensing modular boilers providing significantly greater energy efficiencies. Plate heat exchangers replaced the old calorifiers, mitigating the risk of legionella.
The installation of new BMS controls provides vastly improved plant monitoring and control functions enhancing the overall system efficiencies, whilst improved alarm functions reduces the “downtime” of the essential hot water and heating systems within this live hospital environment.

NUFFIELD HEALTH PLYMOUTH
To build a hospital extension to provide a complete new operating theatre with ultra clean ventilation system. This was needed to increase operating capacity especially for orthopaedic work.
Our Role
EDP Environmental did the full M&E Design and specification for the entire project.
This complex project involved building a first floor on top of an existing fully functioning hospital ground floor.
The work entailed:-
Major infrastructure upgrade, new incoming main electrical panel, new fire alarm system for the entire hospital, medical gas system, consequential improvement to boilers and building management system (BMS) as required by Part L of the Building Regulations.

RIVERSEA KINGSWEAR
Riversea in Kingswear, Devon is a prestigious historic waterside property over looking the River Dart and facing across the river to Dartmouth. The property has been owned by the family for over a century. The project was to completely refurbish and modernise the property, complete with modern energy efficient building services and renewable energy systems.
Our Role
EDP Environmental’s role included the detailed MEP Design of the building services. We also completed a Low and Zero Carbon (LZC) Systems Feasibility and Viability Study from which suitable renewable energy systems were determined.

THE BOATHOUSE, WEMBURY
The stunning development of a new property on the banks of the river in Wembury, near Plymouth.
The original property was demolished and replaced with an exceptional six bedroom family home.
One unique feature of the property is a Ground Source Heat Pump to provide heating and hot water. This consists of 6no. 100m deep bore holes driven into the rock, this helped the project to become a truly environmentally friendly family home with a sustainable heat source.

Our New York client's aspiration was to have a ‘Manhattan’ style apartment within his London home.
BW Architects of New York City designed this outstanding property. The property was completely demolished with the exception of the front façade and rebuilt to achieve the client’s wishes.

EDP Environmental undertook the detailed MEP Design for this development. We also assisted the client in liaising with contractors and suppliers.
