Rochester Riverside School
This is a newly designed single form entry S106 primary school that is part of a major housing regeneration project on the waterfront in Rochester. It has been designed to be a 2FE school as it grows to accommodate 420 pupils. The building sits on a raised deck to keep the accommodation out of the flood plain and provide external teaching space for the nursery and reception classes. The lower deck acts as a car park for staff and plantroom space for the incoming services and domestic water systems all protected within a tanked plantroom envelope. As well as ground floor accommodation (4 classrooms, entrance lobby, kitchen and hall), and first floor accommodation (5 classrooms, learning resource and staff room).
Our Role
EDP Environmental are excited to be working for Mid Group and their design team on our fourth project with them. EDP are providing the MEP design to Stage 4 at present as the school needs an Academy Trust to operate it. The design is around a concrete frame building with Innovare CLT panels for the external and internal walls and roof. The design embodies MMC principals and techniques. Breathable Building NVHR units have been provided to classrooms and internal comfort conditions maintained all year round by a VRF system providing heating and domestic hot water. The building is due for completion in June 2021.
