ST DAVID’S BUILDING
Renovating and remodelling the existing St David’s Building at West of England School to improve the residential accommodation. The school relied on fundraising to enable this project to go ahead so tight budget control was required at all stages of design and construction.
Our Role
EDP Environmental carried out the fully detailed MEP Design to improve the heating, domestic and ventilation systems to the requirements of the National Care Standards. Systems were carefully designed to ensure maximum usability to the learners with visual impairments while ensuring suitability for a site wide expansion project in the future.

CHURSTON GRAMMAR SCHOOL
New 6th Form Building at the existing Churston Grammar School incorporating passive stack-effect natural ventilation. The development provided state-of-the-art IT Suites, Study Zones and Communal areas.

GREATFIELDS SCHOOL
This was a multi-phase project of purpose-built new classrooms and support facilities for 1,800 pupils in the 11-18 age group, located in Barking, Essex. The construction comprised of the latest timber technology to provide a ‘fast track’ approach to a new education facility.
Our Role
EDP Environmental were commissioned to carry-out the detailed MEP Design. We also developed the Energy Strategy in accordance with the London Plan and determined the most cost-effective way to meet the 30% Carbon offset requirement. Our expertise in Thermal Modelling using TAS software was valuable in ensuring compliance with BB101 and meeting the BREEAM level of “Very Good”.

CHULMLEIGH COMMUNITY COLLEGE
A multi phase demolition of a 1950’s style Devon secondary school and replacement by the building of a modern state of the art Academy across multiple new buildings.

HAVERHILL SPORTS CENTRE
Extensive refurbishment and redevelopment of the existing Haverhill Leisure Centre to create a modern 3-storey building. The centre now accommodates a refreshed entrance and reception areas with a café. There is a “Self Centre” which includes a children’s soft play area and a new climbing wall on the ground floor, a multi-use studio and Fitness Suite on the first-floor level and office accommodation on the second floor.

TOPSHAM COMMUNITY CENTRE
The existing library and community hall was demolished and a new community centre built on the site. The scheme includes a multi-purpose hall to accommodate dining and functions, kitchen, day centre, library, meeting rooms, fitness studio, treatment rooms and community offices.
Our Role
EDP Environmental initially provided an outline Mechanical and Electrical scheme design to satisfy the planning and funding conditions. We then completed the detailed design of all Mechanical and Electrical services.

THE DONKEY SANCTUARY
A major upgrade and new buildings were required at the Donkey Sanctuary Charity in Sidmouth. This included a new veterinary medical facility with operation theatres, recovery bays and stables for the donkeys. At the entrance a new reception area, restaurant and visitors centre for the numerous visitors that enjoy the facility was also needed.
Our Role
EDP Environmental carried-out the detailed Mechanical and Electrical Design. The veterinary operating theatres were constructed to medical standards with medical gases and high efficiency particle arrestors (HEPA) plus heat recovery in the ventilation system.

LYMPSTONE MANOR
The complete renovation and extension of Lympstone Manor near Exeter, a Grade II Listed Building.
The conversion of this prestigious country manor house overlooking the River Exe Estuary has seen the property develop into a 21 bedroom boutique 5 Star Hotel & Restaurant with a coveted 2 Michelin Stars. The development includes beautiful gardens, vineyard and extensive wine cellar.
This stunning building is now owned by the celebrity chef Michael Caines MBE.

BARNET HOSPITAL
To prepare a feasibility report, for the proposed replacement of the Washer Disinfectors within the existing Sterile Services Department, at Barnet Hospital.
Our Role
Working with the Hospital Engineering Department, and the Sterile Services Department Manager, EDP Environmental undertook a system resilience review and prepared a feasibility report for the replacement of the existing Washer Disinfectors within this live hospital environment
Providing a critical service within the hospital for the washing and disinfection of the clinical instruments, these Washer Disinfectors are reliant upon a number of services including:
- Steam and Condense Supply
- Hot (Process) Water Supply
- High Temperature Water Discharge To Drain
- Reverse Osmosis (RO) Hot Water Supply
The feasibility report considered the existing main plant resilience and continuation of supply, and the phased plant replacement within this live critical department.

HARLEY STREET OPERATING THEATRE
The provision of two new operating theatres and associated recovery and support spaces within the existing building at 19 Harley Street.
Our Role
EDP Environmental undertook the detailed MEP Design as well as coordination of the Mechanical and Electrical services installation. The project designs were fully compliant with Health Building Note (HBN) and Health Technical Memoranda (HTM) standards. We played a key role in the successful completion of two new theatres on time and within budget on a very constrained site.
